Contemporary artist, costume & performance designer.
Venera Kazarova works at the intersection of visual and performative art. Initially she is a costume designer and received formal education in this field, her artistic way started with experimenting with materials and shape, and then completely went beyond the costume itself. Instead of creating an outfit with practical meaning for real-life wear, she is pushing the boundaries & approaches her craft by viewing costumes as a means of artistic expression.
Kazarova focuses on creating designs that convey messages and ideas, using them as concepts in her costume-centeric performances. The outfit she creates incorporate elements of psychology, mood, and messaging, treating costumes as a form of artistic medium, similar to songs, poems, or novels.
Designs she creates is a reflection of her inner world & the external influences she encounter. By blending elements of reality & fantasy, she creates a visual language that allows her to convey emotions & stories without relying on words. Kazarova also draws her inspiration from dreams and nature.
Performances she make can be interdisciplinary, combining visual art, contemporary dance & music.
Performance is a vital aspect of her work, as her costumes are brought to life through movement & embodiment.
Together with performers she creates a visual theater where the costume becomes an extension of the performer’s identity, blurring the lines between art & life.
Ultimately, my goal as a contemporary artist, costume & performance designer is to transcend the boundaries between art disciplines & create a truly immersive experience.
Through her visual theater she hopes to transport audiences into a dimension where costumes become vessels of expression, allowing us to communicate & connect on a profound level that goes beyond worlds.
Kazarova’s goal as a contemporary artist is also to rehabilitate beauty, which is considered almost obscene in modern art. Her work shows that visuality can be organically combined with conceptuality and that one can work for the other.
